Hopper drags Mike to a bedroom for a semblance of privacy to argue in.
Mike hits Hopper and is furious with him for hiding El away from everyone for a year. There will be some long catch up conversations, eventually. El and Hopper hug hello and ask each other where they’ve been. Hopper jumps in to tell Mike that he was the one who wouldn’t let El answer. Mike asks why she didn’t respond and let him know that she was there and okay. Every night for… El finishes his sentence, “353 days. After a minute, Mike pulls back to tell El that he never gave up on her. Fans are mad enough that El was kept separate from the rest of the cast for 8 out of 9 episodes.Įl and Mike throw themselves into each other’s arms, just like you’d expect, and hold on for dear life. We pick up at the moment we left off, probably because there would have been a fan riot if they hadn’t.

Continue reading “Stranger Things Season 3 Chapter 2: The Mall Rats Recap” → The exploding rats who were drawn to the steel works in episode 1 were reconstituted and then they attacked him, crawling all over his face and body. Billy flashes back to what happened at the steel works. The light in the phone booth flashes, his car’s headlights seem to watch him like eyes and the characteristic flakes of the Upside Down float through the air. The 911 operator asks him to detail his emergency. Then he stops again almost immediately to call the police from a pay phone. He’s dragged inside, but escapes and drives away. This episode begins where episode 1 left off, with Billy having a very bad night at the old steel works after his car was hit by a slime monster. Nancy and Jonathan investigate the case of the rabid rats, while Joyce notices the magnets around town are acting strangely. They run into Mike, who started the day avoiding El based on Hopper’s orders, but ends up trying to win her forgiveness via Lucas’ tried and true methods. Max and El go on a shopping spree/day of self-discovery at the mall. Robin is drawn into their codebreaking scheme before long. Dustin visits his buddy Steve at the Scoop shop to enlist some help with the Russian transmission he accidentally intercepted. He shares his horror with a friend by the end of the episode. The nightmare truly begins for Billy in episode 2.
